A new Apple TV+ film will take a look into the people and conditions that spawned one of the 90’s biggest crazes — Beanie Babies.
Apple Original Films has just landed a new project dubbed “The Beanie Bubble,” a story that aims to uncover the driving forces behind one of the ’90s most iconic toys — Ty Warner’s “Beanie Babies.”
Apple describes the film as “a celebration of the women who helped power Ty Warner’s success, whose strengths and good instincts shaped and amplified the phenomenon, but whose names are not on the Beanie Babies’ heart-shaped tags.”
The project marks Apple’s first partnership between Apple and Imagine Entertainment for scripted films. The film is written by Kristin Gore (“Saturday Night Live,” “Futurama,”) and directed by Gore and Grammy Award winner Damian Kulash (OK Go.)
The screenplay is based on Zac Bissonnette’s “The Great Beanie Baby Bubble: Mass Delusion and the Dark Side of Cute.”
The film will star Zach Galifianakis (“Between Two Ferns,” “Baskets”), Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games,” “Love and Mercy”), Sarah Snook (“Succession,” “Predestination”), and Geraldine Viswanathan (“Broken Hearts Gallery,” “Hala”).
