Google Gemini

Apple’s WWDC 2025 keynote is just days away, but if you were hoping to see Google’s Gemini officially join the Apple Intelligence party, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman just shared some bad news.

‘Apple has no current plan to announce such integration at WWDC’

According to a comprehensive report, while Apple has been in talks with Google to integrate Gemini as an alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, that deal is not expected to be announced on Monday’s keynote. In fact, Gurman reports that no Gemini-related announcements are expected at WWDC at all.

This delay isn’t necessarily about the tech itself. He suggests the holdup may be strategic, likely tied to the ongoing U.S. Department of Justice antitrust case against Google. Since Google’s default search deal with Apple is already a key focus of the DOJ’s case, adding another high-profile partnership would only invite more scrutiny.

Apple has no current plan to announce such integration at WWDC (there likely won’t be any public movement on this front until the US Justice Department makes its ruling on Google’s search deal with Apple).

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai recently hinted that a Gemini-Apple deal might be imminent. Still, as it stands, ChatGPT will reportedly remain the only first-party LLM integration baked into Apple’s AI offerings.

So while the company is expected to open its in-house foundation models to developers and expand Apple Intelligence to features like systemwide translation and smarter Shortcuts, WWDC won’t be when Apple shows off a native multi-AI strategy. That might come later in the year, depending on how the antitrust lawsuit goes.
