According to reports, both smartwatches will bear a resemblance to their predecessors, but Bloomberg has indicated that these devices will incorporate a new iteration of Apple’s optical heart rate sensor, as opposed to the third-generation heart rate sensor featured in the Watch Series 8 and Watch Ultra.
The Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 will receive several sensor and internal component enhancements that prioritize speed, accuracy, and efficiency. Furthermore, akin to the iPhone 15 series, they will be equipped with the latest U2 ultrawide-band chip to enhance their Find My functionalities.
The forthcoming Apple Watch Series 9 will be available in two sizes, namely 41mm and 45mm. On the other hand, the Watch Ultra 2, which is anticipated to be manufactured using more recycled materials and will have a black color variant, will only be offered in a single size of 49mm.
In addition, Apple is currently conducting trials on 3D-printed casings for the stainless steel models of the Watch Series 9, and it is expected that the Ultra range will follow suit in the coming year.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Apple is moving away from some of its leather watch bands and may either update or discontinue its stainless steel link bracelets.
