Apple is reportedly working on a range of smart home products, including an in-home security camera and a Face ID-enabled smart doorbell. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the security camera is already well into development and is expected to compete directly with offerings from major players like Google Nest, Logitech, and Amazon’s Ring and Blink.

The report hints that Apple is positioning its security camera as a privacy-focused option to attract customers who prioritize data protection. The camera will integrate with iCloud, aiming to boost user trust and drive recurring revenue in Apple’s Wearables, Home, and Accessories division.

In addition to the security camera, Apple is also reportedly developing a smart doorbell that would incorporate advanced facial recognition technology, allowing users to unlock their doors using a Face ID-style scan. This doorbell would integrate with HomeKit-enabled smart locks and could also support third-party lock manufacturers, making it a versatile addition to Apple’s growing smart home ecosystem.

As per the report, while the smart doorbell is still in early development and unlikely to launch before late next year, Apple may choose to license the technology to partners like Logitech or Belkin. Apple is positioning itself for a broader smart home expansion, which includes a central home hub, enhanced Siri capabilities powered by AI, and wireless advancements like Proxima chip integration.

Apple is also reportedly working on a central home hub, a wall-mounted display expected to control appliances, manage videoconferencing, and utilize Apple Intelligence for app navigation. The hub, anticipated for announcement in March 2025, will feature a 6-inch square screen, front-facing camera, rechargeable battery, and built-in speakers, available in silver and black.

Additionally, a more advanced tabletop device is under development, priced around $1,000. This high-end model will focus on home security, premium media playback, and advanced videoconferencing, with a unique swiveling robotic arm to distinguish it from competitor.
