iOS 26 has several new features, including those intended to protect minors from online perils and stranger danger. One of those new features automatically freezes a FaceTime call’s audio and video when one of the parties on the call begins taking their clothes off. Even if it’s two consenting adults.
One of the new iOS 26 features Apple announced during WWDC25 included a change to FaceTime when it detects nudity.
Communication Safety expands to intervene when nudity is detected in FaceTime video calls, and to blur out nudity in Shared Albums in Photos.
However, iDeviceHelp on X has discovered that at least on the most recent iOS 26 beta, the call freezes when nudity is detected, even when it’s just you and your of legal-aged and consenting call partner.
When nudity is detected by the app, it displays the following warning message:
“Audio and video are paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.”
The user is also presented with two options to “Resume Audio and Video” or “End Call.”
Be aware that this is just the second beta of iOS 26, so this may just be a bug. The features in iOS 26 can and likely will change before iOS 26 is released to the public.
If you’re concerned about Apple detecting nudity on your phone, don’t be. All nudity detection is performed on device, meaning no data is sent to Apple during the detection.
