Widespread reports indicated that there was a mass Instagram outage that seems to have been resolved.

Instagram was down for a few hours on Wednesday evening, affecting many users. Complaints poured in from multiple locations around the globe, indicating a problem with the service rather than a single server outage.

The outage began around 8:49 p.m. EST according to Down Detector. Reports across Twitter and other social media indicated users either couldn’t access the app or feeds were slow to load.

Instagram didn’t acknowledge the outage publicly.

The outage appeared to be over for most users by 11 p.m. with outage reports dropping to a minimum. Some users could still encounter errors or slowness as the issue is resolved.

Update: The outage was seemingly resolved around 11 p.m. Eastern without any official report.
