Cameras may be swapped on iPhone 15 Pro

Due to the introduction of a new periscope lens, the positions of the Telephoto and Ultra Wide lenses in the iPhone 15 Pro Max might be swapped.

According to a tweet posted on Monday by leaker @URedditor, they claim to have recently obtained independent verification saying that the periscope lens will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. They followed up on Wednesday with another comment.

On a related note – the camera arrangement has changed, compared to the 14 Pro / Pro Max.

The leaker now says that Apple is changing the camera arrangement on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The camera with the periscope lens is between the flash and LiDAR sensor, and the Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses have swapped positions.

There have been persistent rumors about including a periscope lens, primarily for the Pro Max model. Back in July 2022, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculated that the periscope lens might be extended to all iPhone 16 models after the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, in January 2023, Kuo took to Twitter to clarify that only the “top-tier model” within the iPhone 16 lineup would feature a periscope camera.

Meanwhile, Apple leaker @URedditor or “Unknownz21” has an accurate track record, though not a long history. They acquired early versions of the iOS 14 code and disclosed the “Gobi” AR codes, which later evolved into scannable App Clips.

Other rumors from Unknownz21 include a photo of the iPhone 15 Pro USB-C port and Wi-Fi 6E support in the Pro models.
