According to a new report, the Apple iPhone 16 Pro could end up offering faster wired and wireless charging. This, of course, applies to both ‘Pro’ models, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 Pro models could end up offering faster wired & wireless charging

According to this rumor, which comes from China, the iPhone 16 Pro models will support 40W wired and 20W MagSafe wireless charging. Do note that while those are the peak charging rates, neither phone will charge at peak speed throughout the entire charging process.

As a reminder, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can charge at a maximum of 27W via a cable, and 15W via MagSafe wireless charging. So this year’s models could take things to a higher level in terms of charging.

Truth be said, we’re not expecting a great difference in the Charging speed, but an improvement is an improvement. This does pale in comparison to the extremely fast 100W+ charging we’ve seen on a number of other smartphones.

Some of them even offer wireless charging faster than 50W, a couple of them even over 100W. We never expected Apple to make that a reality, though, so it’s nice to see some improvement in that area.

Neither iPhone 16 handset will include a charger in the box

Another thing to note is that neither of these devices will ship with a charger. You will get a charging cable and that’s it. That has been the case with iPhones for quite some time now, both regular and ‘Pro’ ones.

The entire iPhone 16 series of devices, four of them, is expected to launch in September. That’s when Apple usually presents its next-gen iPhones. The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are coming.

The ‘Pro’ models will offer 0.2-inch larger displays this time around, they will have 6.3 and 6.9-inch panels, respectively (Pro and Pro Max). The ‘Pro’ model is also said to get the Tetraprism camera from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, as is the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
