Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone SE in early 2025, one more source claimed. The rumors come just days after Mark Gurman from Bloomberg revealed the timeframe, but the new information added more details about specs and features.
According to sources who spoke with 9to5Mac, the fourth iPhone SE will have a modern look at the front, similar to an iPhone 14 with the notch and FaceID. It will also have Apple A18 chipset and will borrow some cameras from last year’s iPhone 15.
The current iPhone SE, launched in 2022, is basically an iPhone 8 with newer chipset, but the iPhone SE (2025) will be the first affordable Apple phone with 5G connectivity, thanks to the new chip.
The front will feature a 6.1″ OLED panel with 2,531 x 1,170 px resolution, while the sides will be flat. Since the Touch ID is going away, the only biometrics authentication feature will remain Face ID.
The 3D face-scanning solution will have a 12 MP selfie shooter to keep it company inside the notch. The back will sport just one camera, like on the previous iPhone SE, but it will be the 48 MP main cam from the iPhone 15.
Bringing the Apple A18 chip means the iPhone SE (2025) should be getting Apple Intelligence. Hopefully, the devices will get the AI features straight out of the box, unlike the iPhone 16 series which are still waiting for their software upgrade. And if you are in the EU and China, they won’t roll out in the foreseeable future.
Apple launched the iPhone SE (2022) for $429 but the 2025 version is expected to start from $459 or $499.
