Meta has apparently blocked one Apple Intelligence’s most useful features from its apps. Writing Tools is no longer available in Meta’s apps, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Threads, and Messenger.

The Apple Intelligence Writing Tools include options to proofread, rewrite, and summarize text almost anywhere text input is available in iOS 18. A long press in a text input field usually brings up the feature, but that doesn’t currently work in any of Meta’s apps.

The omission was first noted by Brazilian blog Sorcererhat Tech after discovering the lack of Writing Tools across Meta’s apps. Developers can decide whether or not to allow the tools to work in their apps, so it looks like Meta has opted not to include them.

However, Apple decide against partnering with the Facebook owner and use its AI features, due to privacy concerns. Apple instead opted to make a deal with OpenAI to offer optional ChatGPT access in its Siri responses.
