By this time next week, Apple will have fully unveiled its big iOS 26 redesign. But as we count the days until Monday’s WWDC keynote, one notable designer just published what could be the best preview yet of what’s coming to Apple’s software.
Concept imagines ‘Living Glass’ design for iOS 26

Sebastiaan de With is co-founder and designer at Lux, makers of the apps Halide, Kino, Spectre, and Orion. He also contributed design work at Apple in the past.
His newest published work focuses on the expected redesign coming to iOS, macOS, and more.
The full post goes deep into the history of iPhone design and identifies hints in iOS 18 of what to expect this year.
Reporting from leakers like Mark Gurman has described the coming iOS redesign as having “glassy” effects and being visionOS-inspired.
Taking inspiration from this, de With’s concept for iOS 26 is called Living Glass, which he explains this way:
Philosophically, if I was Apple, I’d describe this as finally having an interface that matches the beautiful material properties of its devices. All the surfaces of your devices have glass screens. This brings an interface of a matching material, giving the user a feeling of the glass itself coming alive.
The idea of Apple’s software being an extension of the hardware glass feels so natural, and Apple-like. It also sounds a lot like Apple’s hint at WWDC showing “what’s possible when hardware and software are designed together.”

Overall, de With’s post has made me very excited—more than ever before—to see what Apple might have in store for next week.
