The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX APU is proving to be an exceptional piece of engineering. Not only does it stand up to the powerful Intel Core i9-13980HX and i9-13950HX mobile processors, but it’s also pushing the boundaries and outperforming desktop CPUs like the Intel Core i9-13900KS.

Impressive Single-Thread Performance of the Ryzen 9 7945X Outstrips Intel’s Core i9-13980HX

Recent benchmark results from PassMark have proven just how impressive the Ryzen 9 7945HX really is, with a single-thread test score of 4,405 and a multi-test suite score of 61,985. The laptop processor, with an RDNA2-based AMD Radeon 610M iGPU, managed a maximum TDP of 55 W but can be configurable up to 75 W.

According to the story by Notebook Check, the single-thread performance of the Ryzen 9 7945X easily outstrips Intel’s Core i9-13980HX. Despite the 5.6 GHz boost clock of the Intel processor, the Ryzen 9 7945X scored 4,405 in the single test, leading to a 0.16% margin over the Intel processor.

In a multi-test suite, the AMD processor scored 61,985, leading to a 26.6% lead over Intel’s 48,954. The Ryzen 9 7945HX can also hold its own against Intel’s Core i9-13900KS desktop processor, as seen on CPU Benchmark

Even though the Intel processor has a maximum potential of 253 W (recorded at 125 W on PassMark) and a boost clock of 6.0 GHz, the Ryzen 9 7945X achieved a higher score in multi-test suites with a score of 61,985 compared to the Intel processor’s score of 62,166.

AMD Demonstrates Mobile Processors Can Compete Against Desktop Chips

The Ryzen 9 7945HX also scored higher than the Intel Core i7-13700K desktop processor in the single-thread test, further proving its impressive performance. The performance of the AMD Ryzen 9 7945X is even more impressive when you consider that it comes with 64MB of L3 cache.

All of this only serves to further cement AMD’s Dragon Range APUs as highly capable and, above all else, powerful laptop processors. With the Ryzen 9 7945X CPU benchmarks spotted in another article by CPU Benchmark, AMD has demonstrated that mobile processors don’t have to be held back by desktop hardware and can even compete against the latest desktop chips on the market.
