What just happened? The latest Steam survey is here. November’s results suggest that gaming laptops are becoming increasingly popular, especially ones with the RTX 4060 mobile variant, which could soon become the most popular GPU among participants. Elsewhere, two AMD cards have finally entered the chart more than a year after they were first released, and Team Red continues to chip away at Intel’s CPU dominance, rising to its highest-ever user share.
Starting with the Steam survey‘s graphics section, last month’s biggest gains went to the RTX 4060 laptop GPU, up another 0.6%. That means the mobile version of the Lovelace product is just 0.11% away from overtaking the RTX 3060 and becoming the most popular GPU on the survey.

The second and fourth biggest gains were also laptop variants, of the RTX 3060 and RTX 4070, respectively, while the RTX 4050 laptop GPU sits in 11th place. Somewhat surprisingly, the best-performing desktop card in November was the RTX 3050.
AMD will doubtlessly be pleased to see two more of its cards enter the main table. The Radeon RX 7700 XT, which launched in August 2023, and the Radeon RX 6750 GRE 10GB, released in October 2023, both landed with a 0.17% share. It comes a month after Intel’s Arc graphics attracted enough users (0.18%) to enter the primary chart, though there isn’t a breakdown of individual Arc GPUs.

Looking at the overall GPU chart. The RTX 3060 leader fell 0.73% last month as the 4060 laptop breathes down its neck. Nvidia still dominates, with just over three quarters of all participants using one of Team Green’s GPUs.
Moving onto CPUs, AMD continues to steal share from Intel. A near 2% increase brings Lisa Su’s firm up to a 35.7% share, a record high. The Raptor Lake problems and lukewarm reception to the Core Ultra 200S series, combined with AMD’s brilliant Ryzen 7 9800X3D chip, are no doubt influencing the chart.
Elsewhere, Windows 11 continues to gain users and cement its position as the most popular OS. It was up more than 4% last month as Windows 10 fell by a similar number. With the older version’s end-of-support date less than a year away, expect its popularity to keep declining.
The rest of the survey remains pretty much unchanged, though it is interesting to see that the Oculus Quest 2 – later rebranded as the Meta Quest 2 – which has been the most popular VR for years, is seeing its lead margin decline as the Meta Quest 3’s popularity keeps rising.
