Update: It seems reports of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 getting a Snapdragon chip in the US are inaccurate. More details here.

Samsung has never used Exynos chips in its foldable phones, they’ve always had Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. The expectation was that this trend would continue in 2025 but it has since become evident that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be powered by the Exynos 2500.

However, Samsung might be returning to the chipset split strategy that customers are all too familiar with. Some markets will get the Exynos chipset while others could get the Snapdragon. Since the US is always in the latter category, this could also be the case for the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

US Galaxy Z Flip 7 customers get to enjoy the Snapdragon chipset

A new report claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be powered by the Exynos 2500 chipset in Samsung’s home country of South Korea. We also exclusively confirmed last week that most markets, including South Korea and India, will get the Exynos variant.

The latest report from Korean media suggests that US customers picking up a Galaxy Z Flip 7 will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in the United States. Other markets including China and possibly Japan may also get the Qualcomm processor.

It’s important to note that this split is only being implemented for the clamshell foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will only run the Snapdragon 8 Elite in all markets where it’s sold. Samsung isn’t shifting its book-style foldable to the Exynos chipset just yet.

Samsung’s new foldables are expected to be unveiled in July/August this year, with a new affordable model called the Galaxy Z Flip FE possibly being launched as well.
