Google is reportedly developing a Pixel-branded laptop with high-end specifications, with a dedicated team working on the project. The upcoming device could feature advanced hardware and may run on Android, rather than ChromeOS. This new Pixel laptop is expected to compete with high-end models like Apple’s MacBook Pro and Microsoft’s Surface laptops. Google’s most recent Pixel laptop, the Pixelbook Go, was released in 2019.

As per a report by Android Headlines, Google first introduced the Pixel name with the original Chromebook Pixel in 2013. Although the Chromebook Pixel line was discontinued in 2017, the Pixel name continued to represent Google’s entire mobile portfolio. According to new rumors, the company is set to launch a new laptop, tentatively called the Google Pixel Laptop, with the internal codename “Snowy.”

Google has reportedly formed a dedicated team for the Pixel laptop project, which is expected to feature a premium build as the company aims to target the high-end market. The device is said to run on Chrome OS.
Google employees are reportedly comparing the upcoming Pixel laptop to high-end models like Apple’s MacBook Pro, Dell’s XPS line, Microsoft’s Surface Laptop, and the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, suggesting it will feature premium build quality aimed at the high-end laptop market.
The key point of uncertainty is whether the laptop will run Chrome OS or Windows. While it’s likely to run Chrome OS, this could limit its broader appeal.
For the unversed, the Pixelbook Go runs on Chrome OS and features Intel Core M3 processors in the base model, with Intel Core i7 processors in the higher-end variant. It boasts a 13.3-inch display and is available with 8GB or 16GB of RAM. Storage options include 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB.
It remains uncertain whether this new laptop will mark the return of the Chromebook Pixel, offer something even better, or if it will ever reach store shelves, as Google is still in the early stages of development.
