Has Samsung run into problems with the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s S Pen?

Samsung has focused on considerably slimming down the Galaxy Z Fold 7. To that end, the company has reportedly removed the S Pen digitizer in a bid to make the device thinner. This means that it would need to go the Apple route if it still wants to support stylus input on the foldable display.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 may have a new way of registering S Pen input

Samsung’s top-of-the-line foldable phones have supported the S Pen for a couple of years now. The device doesn’t have a built-in slot for the stylus and doesn’t ship with one in the box. If you want to use the S Pen with the Galaxy Z Fold phones, you need to buy it separately.

Multiple reports have suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 won’t have an S Pen digitizer as Samsung wants to slim down the device. It would then utilize a new way of registering stylus input on the display that doesn’t need a digitizer.

This would require changes to the S Pen as well and if one were to take this rumor from @PandaFlashPro on face value, these production issues with the unknown S Pen could point to the possibility that the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s S Pen may not be available for some time after the device is launched.
