Here’s a quick in-person look at Samsung’s Android XR headset [Gallery]

After teasing its debut late last year, Samsung has offered a public look at its upcoming Android XR headset, “Project Moohan,” at its latest Unpacked event.

In December, Google announced its Android XR project which would be launching on a Samsung headset in 2025. We went hands on with the device at the time, but pictures of the hardware were not allowed. This week, at Samsung’s Unpacked event, the hardware was on display in person, offering a closer look at what’s to come.

“Project Moohan” is a headset similar to Apple’s Vision Pro, but running on a much more lightweight platform. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR+ Gen 2 runs the show, and the headset as a whole is literally lighter as it swaps out Apple’s metal design for one primarily made of plastic.

You can’t really see that in person. At a distance of just a few feet away – the headset was roped off and Samsung wasn’t allowing anyone to try it out – it looks very premium.

The style isn’t quite as futuristic or “fancy” as Vision Pro, but it looks much nicer than anything Meta has put out so far. Personally, I haven’t been all that excited about this product – I’m looking forward to the upcoming AR glasses much more – but after seeing it in person, my interest is piqued.

What do you think?
