I know which side of the fence I’m on, but hate them or love them, Samsung Galaxy Z foldables are the face of the foldable market for most people. I don’t think they’re the best that you can get, but they’re certainly the most available and they offer a decent amount for the price.
Prior to the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, we heard whispers of a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, but when the launch came in July, it was nowhere to be seen. Well, the phone seems to exist but will simply be launched separately. We have some brand-new information on the cameras and the launch date.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim Is Expected To Launch In September, Might Be Regionally Limited
As the name hints, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is going to be a take on the regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 that should be thinner — likely because the digitizer for S Pen support takes a hike — and have a larger 6.5-inch cover display and a Pixel 9 Pro Fold-matching 8-inch inner display. It is also rumored that it’ll come with a titanium frame, bringing a Samsung foldable closer to what the company is doing with its other flagships.
The device was clearly not launched alongside the other foldables and it seems the major reason for that might be that it isn’t going to be launched globally. This is rare for Samsung phones in the higher tiers, but the Z Fold 6 Slim might be limited to Korea and China, without a release in other major markets like the USA or Europe. That’s just the outlook at the moment though.
It also seems like the device might be launched in just about a month, as The Chosun Daily hints at the elusive foldable being launched on September 25th in South Korea. It is expected to be the most expensive Samsung phone of the current batch, as its rumored price is the equivalent of $2,100.
The Under-Display Camera On The Z Fold 6 Will Be Upgraded On The New Slim Model
Beyond the fact that the phone is going to be slim — likely as slim as 10mm when folded — we’ve been let in on more information regarding the upcoming device; particularly as regards the camera setup.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to come with a 10MP selfie camera housed in a cutout on the cover display. One of the rear cameras is expected to be a 12MP ultrawide. If you’ve got a good memory, you’ll know that this is no different from the setup that Samsung has been using for some years on its Z Fold lineup. It’s the same old there, but it seems like the selfie camera inside might be where the magic happens.
In case you’re not aware, the foldable display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup has a selfie camera, but you might not be aware of that since it uses an under-display unit. It’s been a 4MP module for a long time, which certainly doesn’t help in terms of quality. However, this might finally change to a 5MP unit, which will hopefully bring notably sharper images.
