Pixel 10 reportedly boosts macro photography with the help of its telephoto camera

Macro photography isn’t something everyone uses on a daily basis, but it’s still a nice feature to have. With its upcoming Pixel 10 release, Google is reportedly looking to boost macro photos with the help of its telephoto camera.

As it stands today, Pixel phones use the ultrawide camera to take macro photos. A handful of tweaks including auto-focus allows for this, and it generally works pretty well in allowing users to take up-close photos. That won’t be changing on the Pixel 10 series, but Android Headlines says that Google is adding the telephoto lens to the mix.

According to this new report, Google will leverage the telephoto camera on the Pixel 10 series for macro photography. The telephoto would be used up until a certain point before the camera swaps over to the ultrawide sensor which can apparently get closer to the subject without losing focus.

The idea of using a telephoto camera for macro shots isn’t a particularly new one. Nothing, for instance, leverages this on the Phone (3a) series.

It’s unclear if this change is being adopted across the entire Pixel 10 series, but we’ll find out soon enough as the release is less than two months away.
