Samsung developing “zero-bezel” display for a future iPhone – Phandroid

One of the changes Apple made to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models is their displays. Apple has reduced the bezels of the displays on these models, making them thinner than ever. But it seems that these bezels aren’t thin enough. Apple is still chasing the zero-bezel display. It also seems that Samsung could be developing such a display for a future iPhone.

This is according to a report from Korean publication, The Elec. The report claims that both Samsung Display and LG Display are developing a specific display for Apple that could be a true zero-bezel display that could be used in a future iPhone model. It was initially rumored that such an iPhone could debut in 2025, but this report suggests otherwise.

If anything, it has been suggested that we might need to wait until at least 2026 or later before we see these displays hitting the market. It will be interesting to see how thin these bezels are, or if Samsung and LG have managed to figure out a way to actually create a display completely without bezels.

We have been hearing reports that Samsung has been exploring such a possibility. This dates back to a report from 2022. It claims that Samsung is testing out a new process that could eliminate bezels. Smartphone technology has essentially peaked and we’re no longer seeing the massive performance gains like we used to.

This means that smartphone makers need to come up with new ways to make their phones stand out from the competition. In Apple’s case, it seems that the company is hoping a truly bezel-less iPhone could win customers over.
