Samsung has released a new Android 13 beta update for the Galaxy S22 series. It is the third beta build for the latest Galaxy flagships. The company is testing its One UI 5.0 custom software on top of the new Android version.

As of this writing, the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 Beta 3 for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra is rolling out to registered users in supported European countries, including Germany and Poland. Samsung should soon release the new build in other markets where it is running the beta program, such as South Korea, India, and the US.

If you have registered your Galaxy S22 phone for One UI 5.0 beta, you should receive the third build over the air (OTA) in the coming days. You can also manually check for it from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install. If there’s no update available, check again a few days later.

This release comes with the firmware version ending with ZVI9. It fixes several bugs present in previous builds. Samsung has fixed an issue with homescreen widgets for Gallery, Calendar, and other apps. The company has also fixed issues with the home screen return animation, text appearing on app icons, animation overlap when closing folders, and gestures not working properly on the lock screen.

Apart from these bug fixes, Samsung has added a few new features. Most notably, you get an immersive slideshow-style story feature in Gallery. The Album tab in Gallery and the wallpaper menu in Settings also get a minor UI overhaul, while you can now change the lock screen wallpaper directly from the lock screen (via). Last but not least, Samsung has optimized various other functions for improved performance.

The stable One UI 5.0 update could be just a few weeks away

Samsung hasn’t revealed when it plans to begin the stable One UI 5.0 rollout for its devices. But rumors are that the update may arrive as early as mid-October. If true, the company would be early by a whole month than last year. In that case, this could be the last or the penultimate beta build for the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung has already rolled out two One UI 5.0 beta builds to the Galaxy S21 series as well. There are also pieces of evidence of a beta build in development for the Galaxy S20 series. We will keep track of these developments and let you know accordingly.
