Samsung teases Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch, first devices with Android 16

Samsung has just launched its One UI 8 beta program and, alongside doing that, confirmed the launch window for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, while hinting they’ll be the first devices to launch with Android 16.

In its announcement of the One UI 8 beta program, Samsung has confirmed that its “newest foldables” will be launching “this Summer.” The aligns with prior rumors of an early July launch date, and is the first time the company has confirmed this expected launch window.

Samsung adds that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be the first devices to include the stable One UI 8 update, meaning they’ll also likely be among the first, if not the first, devices to run Android 16 out of the box.

Samsung explains:

One UI is Samsung’s integrated software platform, designed to help Galaxy devices simplify everyday routines and enhance productivity and convenience. Thanks to the mutual partnership between Samsung and Google, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s newest foldables this summer and will gradually expand to more Galaxy devices so users can now enjoy an enriched, more personalized mobile experience with the latest version of Android.

In addition to being the first generation of upgrades to launch alongside new foldable devices, the launch of One UI 8 also initiates a new rhythm for Samsung’s software evolution with major UX and AI updates.

The One UI 8 beta is available today for Galaxy S25 users in Korea, Germany, the UK, and the US, while other devices and regions will have to wait for the time being.

While Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be the first to have this new update installed, other Galaxy devices will likely follow very closely behind.
