At the beginning of the year, Samsung released the Galaxy S24 family of smartphones, and along with them came Galaxy AI, which was one of the forerunners in the current AI craze we’re going through. Eventually, that Gooey AI goodness trickled down to older Samsung flagships in the smartphone and tablet realms.
Personally, I never expected Samsung to throw this magic into its midrange arena, but it seems that it will. According to SamMobile, the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 will be the first A-series smartphones with Galaxy AI coming for them, so this is exciting news.
The Samsung Galaxy A35 And A55 Will Be The Company’s First Mid-Rangers With Galaxy AI
Samsung released the Galaxy A35 and A55 earlier this year, as the highest-specced models in the A-series. There was a Galaxy A73 two years ago, but Samsung cut the “A7X” lineup off for whatever reason. That made the A55 the new top model in the A lineup, with the A35 as its right-hand man. Both are still mid-rangers though.
SamMobile has brought good news our way, by letting us know that the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 will both be getting Galaxy AI, making them not only the first A-series smartphones from Samsung to tote the cutting-edge AI suite but also the first mid-rangers from the company overall.
It is likely that whenever the One UI 6.1.1 update gets to these phones, it is going to come with Galaxy AI in tow. These devices already have One UI 6.1, but Samsung didn’t seem to think that Galaxy AI was pertinent for these mid-rangers at the time.
There’s No ETA On This Update’s Arrival
The big question is, when? There’s no word on when Galaxy AI will find its way to these devices beyond the fact that it seemingly will. Of course, I don’t think that it is going to be past the end of this year though, and that’s me being on the safe side. It should likely find its way to Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 users well ahead of that time.
These Mid-Rangers Are Probably Going To Get Half-Fat Galaxy AI
When Samsung initially announced that Galaxy AI would be finding its way to older flagship devices, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series was left out of the running because Samsung said that those phones didn’t have the necessary hardware to make some of its chunky AI features work. I remember this because, well, I have an S22 Ultra. Samsung eventually changed their tune and the S22 family got the entire suite of features.
However, phones like the S21 series and the S23 FE weren’t able to get the full suite of features. That is almost certainly going to be the case for the Galaxy A35 and the Galaxy A55. Don’t expect to be able to use AI features heavy on on-device processing like Live Translate.
I’ll surmise that Circle to Search and Chat Assist will show up, just like they did with some of the other Galaxy AI-handicapped devices. You may also see some of those AI image editing features show up too, as those might be more in demand by the average user.
Through Tecno, Gionee, Vivo, Google, and now Samsung, Ayomide has always been an Android enthusiast. His current partner in crime is a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. You can find him playing Candy Crush or Call of Duty: Mobile, watching movies, and he is a big fan of trivia and quizzes.
