The Nothing Phone (1) has been officially launched

Ever since former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei left the company to form Nothing, it didn’t feel like a stretch of the imagination to think that his next product would be a smartphone. While it wasn’t Nothing’s first product, the company has quickly followed up with a smartphone in the form of the Nothing Phone (1).

The handset was teased to death in the weeks leading up to the official announcement, but it looks like it’s finally here and we can stop guessing and speculating. The Nothing Phone (1) is the first phone from Nothing and it looks like it is a mid-range device.

In terms of specs, the phone will come with a 6.55-inch 2400×1080 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset can be found. The phone will also feature a dual camera setup on the back consisting of a 50Mp f/1.88 Sony IMX766 sensor, and a 50MP f/2.2 Samsung JN1 ultrawide sensor. There will also be a 16MP camera on the front of the phone.

The phone will come with Android 12 preinstalled and will use the Nothing OS (1) UI on top, which for the most part seems to be a relatively stock experience with some tweaks designed to help it work better with the Nothing ear (1), as well as controls for Tesla vehicles where you can turn the lights on and off.

As we previously reported, the phone will also feature a unique Glyph interface that utilizes the transparent back and LED lights. It will light up to indicate different functions, like when you’re charging your phone, using reverse wireless charging, camera lights, and it will also be able to sync with your ringtones.

The Nothing Phone (1) will be priced starting at €469 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and as previously reported, it will only be available via an invite system and will be skipping the US market (for now), but it will be available in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Macau, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and UAE.
