Bits of evidence from last month hint at Samsung working on a new mid-range tablet. Today, the tablet, which should hit the market as the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, may have popped up in an online benchmark, revealing its chipset.

A mysterious Samsung device bearing the model number SM-X406B was tested in Geekbench today (via XpertPick). All modern Samsung tablets use the X designation, from the Galaxy A9 to the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. With that in mind, the letter X doesn’t confirm if this is the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, but the X406 number is high enough for a mid-range tablet positioned higher than a Galaxy Tab A.

For the time being, we will assume this is the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 Lite since that’s the only new Samsung mid-range tablet believed to be in development. We’ll let you know if the SM-X406B model number turns out to be something else.

Regardless, the recent Geekbench entry confirms this Samsung tablet has the Exynos 1380 chip and 6GB of RAM. It runs Android 15 and One UI 7, but its suite of Galaxy AI features is to be determined..

Samsung hasn’t released a Lite-branded tablet in years. To be specific, it launched the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite in 2024, but that was just a refresh of the 2022 model, which in turn was a refresh of the 2020 model.

Given the Exynos 1380 chip, it’s safe to assume that the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite will be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Tab S10 FE. The latter is available with an Exynos 1580 chip under the hood.

The Galaxy Tab S10 FE starts at $499, while the Galaxy Tab A9+ costs $219 and up. Samsung will probably position the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite somewhere between these two price points. However, nothing is official yet, and these guesses, educated as they may be, are subject to change.
