Honor just totally fat-shamed the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 – Phandroid

Foldable phones aren’t as thin compared to regular phones. This is because if you think about it, they’re essentially two phones in one. But companies like Honor have managed to create foldable phones that are incredibly thin. So much so that Honor decided to rub it in the face of Samsung in a hilarious ad.

The ad shows the Honor Magic V3 with an incredibly tiny engraving on its side. This was achieved by the incredibly steady hands of 78-year-old Graham Short, who for those unfamiliar is known for creating micro-engravings. In case the engraving is too small to see, here’s what it says:

“Dear Samsung Galaxy Z Fold owners, we’re sorry. We know you were excited to buy a phone that folds in half and fits in your pocket, awkwardly. You were promised the future, a technical marvel, a world of boundless multitasking and performance. And now, you’re probably looking at the new HONOR Magic V3 and feeling a little… betrayed. Size matters, and we feel your pain. Like being tipped for a gold medal and then coming last in the race, the knowledge that a thinner, lighter, and more durable foldable exists is enough to make anyone question their choices. We get it. You were an early adopter, a pioneer bravely venturing into the uncharted territory of foldable screens with questionable durability. You deserve better. In fact, you deserve a gold medal. In all seriousness, we at HONOR are committed to pushing the boundaries of technology and bringing you the best possible foldable experience. We’re just saying… it’s okay to feel let down. We’d feel the same way.”

That being said, the rumors are suggesting that Samsung could be working on a slimmer version of its Galaxy Z Fold 6 handset. This handset is rumored to be about 10mm thick, about 2mm thinner than the current model. However, this still falls short of the Honor Magic V3, which when folded shut measures 9.2mm thin.

We were a little disappointed that slimness wasn’t an area that Samsung focused on for its Galaxy Z Fold 6. In fact, apart from a slight update in design language, it felt very much like the old model, except with new hardware under the hood. We know Samsung makes great phones, but this just felt lazy, especially when there is stiff competition from the likes of Honor.
