HONOR Magic V3 secrets: Titanium Vapor Chamber, Super Steel Hinge & more

The global launch of HONOR’s brand new foldable is right around the corner. The HONOR Magic V3 is coming with a Titanium Vapor Chamber, Super Steel Hinge, and more.

HONOR partnered up with a YouTuber SuperSaf in order to share some additional information about the phone. That video has a duration of around 7 minutes, and it’s embedded below the article.

In that video, the YouTuber does get quite technical regarding the phone. That video also allows you to take a closer look at the Magic V3 itself. It sure is an interesting device. As many of you know, this is the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable on the market. It already launched in China, while its global variant will be announced at IFA in Berlin early next month.

With that being said, in this video, a number of details are highlighted. Details that allowed HONOR make this phone as thin and light as it is. The first in line is advanced battery technology.

HONOR is also using a third-gen silicon-carbon battery

Last-gen model, the Magic V2, also used a silicon-carbon battery. This year’s model uses a 3rd-gen silicon-carbon battery, which uses around 10% silicon. That made it possible for HONOR to make the battery smaller while keeping the capacity.

A Titanium Vapor Chamber is also worth highlighting. It utilizes titanium as the VC substrate, and it remains the industry’s thinnest at 0.22mm. The heat dissipation area has increased by 22%, and the weight has been reduced by 40%. The performance improvement is at 53% compared to the previous generation.

HONOR is also using a second-gen Super Steel Hinge here. It possesses a tensile strength of 2,100MPa. The hinge has been slimmed down further to 2.84mm. That way more space has been left for structural reinforcement.

The Super Fiber Material is also a very important component

The last detail shared is the Super Fiber Material. HONOR uses a special fiber on the back cover with a strength of 5,800MPa. It’s stronger than Kevlar and carbon fiber, which “ensures both strength and minimal weight”.
