As phones get longer support windows, third-party ROMs like LineageOS aren’t all that necessary, but still a welcome option, especially for owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, plus a plethora of other older Android-powered devices. Here are a few newly supported handsets.
While we track what devices are updated and supported by the LineageOS project, sometimes a few slip the net. The Galaxy Tab S7 tablet is the most recent device to gain LineageOS 22 builds, but it isn’t alone. A number of devices from Xiaomi, Poco, and Motorola are all now capable of running the Android 15-based ROM with all the trappings intact.
Some of the most notable devices now able to get Android 15 and LineageOS 22 include the entirety of the Xiaomi 12 lineup, plus the Poco F5. While Xiaomi has improved update schedules for recent releases, older phones are woefully supported in the longer term. This might be a great way to tone down the somewhat overbearing MIUI or HyperOS and get something a little more lightweight for your phone.
LineageOS 22 is yet another solid ROM for anyone who wants something akin to the Pixel software experience but with lots of extra functionality baked directly in to the core operating system. Many features are simply not available on stock ROMs from OEMs, and that makes it a very popular choice for smartphone tinkerers.
As noted, it is based on Android 15 and key improvements and features include a new music player called “Twelve” with Material You theming, a built-in PDF reader, and full integration of Android 15 QPR1 changes. The update also brings cosmetic enhancements, performance improvements, and increased stability. Be sure to check out the video below for a full lowdown:
