OnePlus globally launched the OnePlus Open foldable smartphone in October last year. Reports from late last year hinted that the company could also launch two foldable smartphones, the OnePlus V Fold and its smaller sibling, the OnePlus V Flip featuring a clamshell-style form factor like the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Now, a popular tipster has shared a new launch timeframe for the OnePlus V Flip.
A popular tipster shares a new rumored launch timeframe for the OnePlus V Flip
The latest rumor comes via popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station (aka DCS). According to the tipster’s recent Weibo post, the company might launch the OnePlus V Flip in Q2 2025 (April-June). Previously, reports from earlier this year hinted that the clamshell foldable could launch in Q3 this year.
The upcoming phone will join the company’s portfolio of foldable smartphones alongside the OnePlus Open. Besides the launch timeframe of the OnePlus V Flip, DCS shared no further details.
In addition, previous rumors hinted that OnePlus could launch the OnePlus V Flip as a rebranded Oppo Find N5 Flip. However, a following report quickly sidelined it claiming Oppo canceled the launch of that phone.
Rumors about some Chinese phone manufacturers pulling out from the foldable market
A report from last week also hinted that Oppo could be one of the Chinese phone manufacturers considering pulling out from the foldable market. While we can’t say anything for sure, the apparent reason mentioned in the report was related to profitability.
Given the above reasons, the OnePlus V Flip’s launch is rather uncertain at the moment. However, it’s worth noting that the tipster who claimed the OnePlus V Flip’s launch timeframe has a solid track record with information related to Chinese smartphones. Therefore, we can consider the claims until anything new comes up in this regard.
