In a move that could interest Apple users looking to expand their audio options, LG Electronics unveiled its new “xboom by will.i.am” lineup of Bluetooth speakers and earbuds recently. When a big electronics maker puts out four new products at once — complete with celebrity sound engineer in the mix — it tends to grab out attention.

The xboom by will.i.am collection, professionally tuned by the multi-platinum musician and tech entrepreneur will.i.am, promises a signature sound characterized by a balanced audio profile delivering vibrant and immersive listening experiences.

The new product family includes three Bluetooth speakers and a set of earbuds. LG designed each product with different use cases in mind. But they all maintain the distinctive xboom sound signature across the lineup, LG said — not unlike how Apple maintains consistent sound profiles across its HomePod and AirPods lines.

The lineup: Premium sound at various price points

At the forefront of the collection is xboom Bounce ($199), which blends great audio quality with modern aesthetics. This portable speaker features built-in up-firing passive radiators, dual dome tweeters and a track-type woofer. The system enables precise highs and an expanded soundstage, LG said.

The speaker’s name comes from its visible passive radiators that bounce in sync with the beat — a visual element that Apple products typically avoid in favor of minimalist design.

For those prioritizing portability — similar to how AirPods users value convenience — the xboom Grab ($149) offers powerful sound in a compact form factor. Despite its slim profile, the speaker incorporates dual passive radiators for dynamic bass and can be positioned in various orientations. You could put it in cup holders or even bicycle water bottle cages, LG said.

Bigger sound and expanded functionality

The xboom Stage 301 ($299) targets users looking to fill larger spaces with sound. Its 6.5-inch woofer and dual 2.5-inch midrange drivers deliver full-bodied audio suitable for busking, karaoke or outdoor events. Apple users familiar with the room-filling capabilities of the HomePod might appreciate this more portable alternative for outdoor gatherings. And you can plug microphones and instruments into it.

Rounding out the collection are the xboom Buds ($109). They feature graphene diaphragms for precise audio quality and three microphones to boost active noise cancellation. Ergonomic ear tips offer comfort and stability. At a price point below AirPods, these could present an intriguing alternative for Apple users seeking additional earbuds for specific use cases.

AI features Apple users might appreciate

As Apple integrates more AI capabilities into its ecosystem, LG’s new speakers come equipped with AI features that analyze content and adjust sound for melody, rhythm and voice. The speakers also include AI Lighting that keeps bar lights pulsing in multicolored sync with music. And AI calibration detects surroundings to optimize sound output.

Perhaps most intriguing for tech-forward Apple users is the dedicated button that allows instant connection to will.i.am’s RAiDiO.FYI platform. It offers personalized infotainment content curated by an AI-powered Radio Host. That feature should launch later this year, LG said.

Durability and battery life

For Apple users who prioritize reliable performance, xboom Bounce boasts impressive credentials. It rates IP67 for water and dust resistance, passes seven military standard tests and packs a battery that lasts up to 30 hours. Similarly, xboom Grab also features IP67 rating with up to 20 hours of battery life.

And Stage 301 offers IPX4 water resistance and a replaceable battery lasting up to 11 hours. xboom Buds provide up to 30 hours of listening time with their charging case and feature IPX4 water resistance.
