Audio-Technica is a popular brand on the audio market. It produces some high-quality products for average music lovers, and these include headphones and TWS earbuds. The company just warned its users about a potentially dangerous situation with some of its earbuds. The Audio-Technica SQ1TW2 are being recalled because of an overheating issue.

Any device with a battery could be a potential danger to you and those around you. You shouldn’t take warnings like these lightly. If you own these earbuds, you’ll need to get rid of them as soon as possible. Audio-Technica said that it will collect the defective earbuds to dispose of them properly. Be sure to contact the company for more information on how to unload your defective earbuds.

Audio-Technica recalls the SQ1TW2 due to an overheating issue

The Audio-Technica SQ1TW2 are a stylish set of affordable earbuds that launched earlier this year. Coming in at only $79, they go up against earbuds like the fantastic OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro. They sport a trendy rounded square aesthetic that makes them look more premium than they are. These earbuds only hit the market a few months ago, but the journey for some units was cut short.

Audio-Technica reached out to Techradar and told the publication that a batch of SQ1TW2 units was affected by a bit of an issue. According to Audio-Technica,  a “few of the charging cases are faulty due to an overheating battery that can produce smoke.” It made a point to state that this issue doesn’t affect all of the units on the market.

There’s a way to check if you have a defective unit outside of sniffing for smoke. Look for your unit’s serial number. If you see a serial number between 2322 and 2426, then you’re likely to have a defective model. If your serial number is between these numbers return them ASAP. Even if you don’t see smoke, still return your unit to the company. You don’t want to take a chance with any sort of overheating battery.

Contact the company immediately. Audio-Technica will arrange for you to send your defective unit back and send you a new pair of earbuds.
