Moments ago, Samsung confirmed that Google Gemini is coming to wearable devices, including the Galaxy Buds 3 series and Galaxy Watches. The company didn’t provide an exact launch timeframe or a list of smartwatches that will get the advanced AI tool, but we can take an educated guess.
Samsung says Google’s clever AI assistant will land on Galaxy Watches “in the coming months.” This likely means that Gemini will arrive as part of the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update, which should debut with the Galaxy Watch 8 series at Unpacked this summer.
We can approximate which Galaxy Watches will support Gemini based on which models are likely to receive One UI 8 Watch.
Once again, Samsung has yet to offer any concrete information about the availability of One UI 8 Watch; however, Samsung promised to support the Galaxy Watch 4 and later models with OS upgrades for four years, which means that, in theory, every Wear OS Galaxy Watch will receive Gemini, including:
- Galaxy Watch 4.
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
- Galaxy Watch FE.
- Galaxy Watch 5.
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
- Galaxy Watch 6.
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
- Galaxy Watch 7.
- Galaxy Watch Ultra.
- Upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series.
Keep in mind that none of this is officially confirmed, but given all the information we have, it stands to reason that Gemini will land on all these Galaxy Watch models. But there’s always a chance Samsung might keep Gemini away from older wearables, whether due to hardware limitations or to promote newer Watches. Either way, we will keep a close eye on future developments and let you know once we know more.
As for Galaxy Buds, they don’t actually run Android OS or Wear OS. Samsung earbuds won’t get Gemini on-device, but they will support Gemini voice commands and touch gestures when connected to a Galaxy device that has Gemini.
Samsung only mentioned Gemini for the Galaxy Buds 3 series, which could mean that earlier models won’t benefit from integration with this powerful AI tool. Future earbud models, however, most likely will.
