Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has claimed that iOS 18 will “overhaul” many of Apple’s built-in apps, including Notes, Mail, Photos, and Fitness. Gurman did not disclose any particular new features set for these applications.

Previously, there were rumors that the Notes app would receive enhancements such as displaying additional math equations and having a built-in feature for recording voice memos. However, this is the initial instance where updates for the Mail, Photos, and Fitness apps have been mentioned.

iOS 18 is speculated to introduce fresh generative AI functionalities for Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts, Apple Music, Messages, Health, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, and additional applications. These functionalities are anticipated to be driven by Apple’s on-device large language model (LLM), although Apple has purportedly explored collaborations with firms such as Google, OpenAI, and Baidu.

A design alteration that has been speculated for iOS 18 involves a Home Screen that is more customizable, enabling users to position app icons anywhere within the grid. This modification will permit the inclusion of empty spaces, rows, and columns amidst the app icons.

iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 are anticipated to showcase an overhauled Calculator application encompassing numerous novel functionalities. These enhancements comprise a sidebar that conveniently displays recent calculations, an enhanced interface for seamless unit conversion, seamless integration with the Notes app, and an array of additional features.

iOS 18 is anticipated to bring forth a couple of fresh additions to Apple Maps, comprising of personalized routes and topographic maps.
