In contrast, Android devices have been introducing innovative fast-charging technologies and larger battery capacities, with capacities surpassing 5000 mAh becoming increasingly prevalent. Consequently, Apple is also endeavoring to provide its smartphones with higher capacity batteries.

Apple has recently obtained a patent called “Battery cells with tabs at right angle,” which suggests that the capacity of their new batteries can be expanded without the need to increase their physical size.

This patent was officially filed in September 2021 and was made public on March 26, 2024. In order to improve battery life, Apple has been exploring various techniques including the use of membranes and foldable battery components.

Furthermore, Apple’s recent patent implies that the battery connector for upcoming iPhones may deviate from what we are accustomed to and differ from the traditional battery design. Apple suggests that the placement of tabs within the battery plays a crucial role in achieving a battery with a higher capacity.

If Apple’s plans unfold smoothly, iPhones equipped with larger batteries could become a reality sooner rather than later. The Mac Observer has also highlighted the possibility of the new battery being included in the iPhone 16 series.

The iPhone 16 series is set to be launched later this year, with early leaks providing a sneak peek into what we can expect from the new lineup. Apple is expected to introduce four models – the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, following the same pattern as previous years.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to feature a larger 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could potentially come with a substantial 6.9-inch display. Earlier reports have suggested that both versions will sport slim bezels, enhancing the overall viewing and gaming experience.

On the other hand, speculations indicate that the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will likely maintain the same screen sizes as the previous models. This means that the standard variant may stick with its 6.1-inch display, whereas the Plus variant might retain its 6.7-inch screen.
