You can soon attend Zoom calls using your Apple Vision Pro

Zoom, the popular video chat software, has announced that users will be able to attend virtual meetings via the Apple Vision Pro from launch day on February 2.

Apple’s new spatial computing headset is set to arrive to customers in early February, and while there aren’t a lot of apps for it yet, we suspect that we’ll see more trickle in over the next few months. One app that will be available, however, is Zoom.

“Zoom on Apple Vision Pro helps teammates stay connected no matter when and where they work, or how they communicate and collaborate,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom, in a statement.

“The integration of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS extends our platform promise of allowing participants the ultimate meeting experience from anywhere and delivers on our commitment of seamless collaboration and communication.”

According to Zoom, it will support Personas at launch. A Persona is the 3D representation of the Apple Vision Pro user.

Furthermore, it will also facilitate the “Spatial Zoom experience” or the spatial workspace that users access during a Zoom call.

Later this spring, Zoom plans to add additional features, such as 3D object sharing. This feature would allow game designers and animators wearing the Apple Vision Pro to share and view 3D object files in 3D space.

Real-world pinning will allow users to pin five meeting participants in their physical space and even includes the option to remove the background of pinned users. This feature is designed to make Apple Vision Pro users feel more connected to those in the meeting.

Zoom Team Chat support will also be added at a later date.

The first Apple Vision Pro units are expected to begin arriving for customers on February 2.
