Motorola is launching a new flagship Android smartphone later this week. The company will unveil the Motorola X50 Ultra on May 16 in China. Expected to be the Chinese variant of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra launched in April, the new phone has already acquired 3C and TENAA certifications in the country. It has just surfaced on Geekbench to confirm some of its key specs.

Geekbench confirms Motorola X50 Ultra’s chipset and RAM amount

The Motorola X50 Ultra appeared on Geekbench with the model number XT2401-2, the same as certified by TENAA last week. It scored 1,946 points in the single-core benchmark test on Geekbench v6.2. Its multi-core score was 5,128. These scores aren’t quite the same level as we expect from flagship Android phones, but the test device is probably running pre-release software, so it’s normal.

Speaking of software, the upcoming Motorola flagship will run Android 14 out of the box. Android 15 is still a few months away, after all. The company might slap a layer of MYUI on top. Its Android phones in China arrive with MYUI custom software based on the latest version of Android. The Geekbench listing for the Motorola X50 Ultra confirms an octa-core Qualcomm processor with a 1+4+3 CPU cluster.

The lone prime CPU core operates at a peak frequency of 3.01GHz, while the four mid-cores reach 2.80GHz. The three efficiency cores are clocked at 2.02GHz. An Adreno 735 GPU is in tow. All of this information is enough to reveal that the chipset in question is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the same processor that powers the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra in global markets.

Motorola will offer the new phone in a 12GB RAM variant, though previous certifications have revealed multiple RAM variants ranging from 8GB to 18GB. The Motorola X50 Ultra will also offer various storage options including 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. It will feature a 6.67-inch curved OLED display, a 4,365mAh battery, and 125W superfast charging. We also expect IP68 dust and water resistance.

The new phone will boast on-device AI features

Motorola has been teasing new AI features for its upcoming flagship. Almost every Android OEM is now baking AI features into their flagship offerings, so nothing surprising here. The Motorola X50 Ultra will use AI to enhance various aspects of your everyday phone experience, including photography. Just a couple more days to go before the firm takes wraps off it all, so stay tuned.
