OnePlus 13 Leak Reveals Info On Specs And Design – Talk Android

It has only been a few months since the OnePlus 12 was announced, and we’ve already started to hear about its successor, the OnePlus 13. The OnePlus 12 is a solid flagship, carrying some of the best specs you can find on smartphones in the market right now, but one thing where it did settle is its design, which is almost the same as the OnePlus 11.

The upcoming OnePlus 13 could change that if a new report is to be believed. OnePlus might finally do away with the almost identical circular camera island it has now used on two iterations.

The OnePlus 13 Could Get a Revamped Camera Module

We saw rumors earlier that the company might opt for new aesthetics for the OnePlus 13. In the latest development, a Weibo user named “fixed focus digital” (via Phandroid) has shared a render they created based on leaked information about the phone.

As per this render, the OnePlus 13 will have a squared camera module with rounded corners. It somewhat reminds me of the OnePlus 10’s camera design, although with a handful of changes. The ring flash is the same, but the entire module doesn’t merge to the frame and the Hasselblad branding has been dropped for just the logo.

That said, the design feels underwhelming, especially looking at OnePlus’ sister company Oppo’s recently launched Find X7 Ultra. It could be because the render is basic and doesn’t showcase the phone’s color or finish. But if you’re still not satisfied with the change, there might be some good news, as a different tipster has something else to say.

Yogesh Brar, a reliable tipster on X (Twitter), believes that the render isn’t accurate and that OnePlus will opt for a circular camera island at the center for its upcoming flagship – similar to the Oppo Find X7 Ultra. The recent OnePlus flagships have also featured a round camera module, though positioned to the left side. In addition, the tipster also shared some other key specs of the OnePlus 13.

The OnePlus 13 Might Get a New Design but Retain Some Hardware

According to Yogesh, the OnePlus 13 will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset – which is yet to be released. Interestingly, Xiaomi holds the first launch rights for the processor, hence, it will debut on the Xiaomi 15 first. The company followed a similar pattern last year with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, first equipped on the Xiaomi 14 lineup.

Coming back to the OnePlus 13, the phone will get a ‘quad micro curved display’ that could translate to a display slightly curved to all four sides. Oppo had used a similar terminology for its Reno 8T smartphone. Although OnePlus is giving a design refresh to the OnePlus 13’s camera module, the camera sensors in use are said to be the same as the OnePlus 12. The image quality could be improved thanks to better software, but don’t expect Google-level software prowess.

The battery capacity will also be similar to the OnePlus 12, as the OnePlus 13 is tipped to house a 5,400 mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging. In the US, however, it could have an 80W cap, like its predecessors.

When will the OnePlus 13 launch?

It’s too early right now to speak of the OnePlus 13’s launch date, as the OnePlus 12 was only launched a few months back. But if we were to take a guess, also based on OnePlus’ previous launches, the OnePlus 13 could land in December this year, or January next year. There’s still lots of time remaining, and we will learn more about the handset as we approach its launch.
