Realme arguably makes some of the best mid-range smartphones. It focuses less on expensive flagships and hence has more time and effort to push out some great midrangers. Going in the same direction, the company had unveiled a new lineup for mid-range smartphones, under the P moniker.

The Chinese phone maker has launched the first two phones under the P series, dubbed P1 and P1 Pro. Both smartphones rock a quite appealing design and bring attractive features like 120Hz AMOLED panels, 50MP primary cameras, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Continue reading to find out what Realme has to offer with its latest smartphone duo.

The Realme P1 is the smaller sibling – not by size but specs-wise. The phone’s main highlight is the display. It rocks a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel, with 2400×1080 resolution and 2000 nits of peak brightness. The refresh rate tops out at 120Hz and is coupled with a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz.

Additionally, the display is equipped with what Realme calls “Rainwater Smart Touch” technology. It should allow using the phone even when its screen or your hands get wet. A little water on your phone’s display should not worry you, since the P1 is IP54 certified. Besides, you get an in-display fingerprint reader.

The Realme 1 runs Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. Under the hood, you’ll find the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, which Realme claims is the fastest chipset in the segment. The Dimensity 7050 supports Wi-Fi 6 and 9 different 5G bands, translating to faster internet speeds and wider 5G connectivity. It is paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage.

At the back, the P1 features a big camera layout, and while Realme wants people to believe it has a quad camera setup, there are just two sensors. A 50MP lens does the job of the primary camera, and a 2MP B&W sensor accompanies it. Selfies are taken care of by a 16MP sensor, sitting in a punch-hole on the display.

Talking about battery, the P1 uses a 5000mAh cell and supports 45W SuperVOOC charging – Realme’s proprietary fast charging tech. The phone also comes with a feature missing in most smartphones these days: a 3.5mm audio jack. You’ll be able to get your hands on the Realme P1 in two color options: Phoenix Red and Peacock Green.

Realme P1 Pro

The P1 Pro, being the pro among the duo, gets some feature upgrades. The first notable upgrade is in its display. You get a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED screen with 2412×1080 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Compared to the P1, the display is curved and offers better color depth and a higher screen-to-body ratio. The Rainwater Smart Touch tech and in-display fingerprint sensor are also featured on this phone.

For the chipset, Realme has used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC which is based on a 4nm process, compared to the 6nm process of the P1’s SoC. The RAM on the P1 Pro is standard at 8GB, while storage includes 128GB/256GB options. Like the P1, you get 9 5G bands and Wi-Fi 6 on the P1 Pro.

Realme P1 Pro’s camera department also sees better specs. The main sensor is of similar 50MP but utilizes a better Sony LYT-600 lens, which also comes with OIS. The LYT-600 sensor was first used on the Realme’s 12+ smartphone. For the secondary camera, the P1 Pro gets a 16MP ultra-wide lens. The selfie department is handled by a 16MP camera, similar to the P1.

The phone’s battery capacity and charging speed are identical to those of the P1. To recall, you’ll get a 5,000mAh battery with up to 45W fast charging. If the 3.55mm jack on the P1 excited you, you’ll have to live without that feature if you get the P1 Pro, as the phone misses out on it. Besides, the water resistance sees improvement, as the phone is IP65 rated. The P1 Pro will be available in two colorways: Phoenix Red and Parrot Blue.

Price and Availability

Realme’s Vice President, Chase Xu, had earlier confirmed that the P series will be limited to India only. People outside the country will have no option but to skip these smartphones, but there shouldn’t be much disappointment as many great budget smartphones are already available. The recently announced Moto G Power, for instance.

Talking about the pricing, the Realme P1 will set you back INR 15,999 ($190) for the 6+128GB version, while the 8+256GB variant will cost INR 18,999 ($227). The P1 Pro costs INR 21,999 ($263) for the 8+128GB variant and goes up to INR 22,999 ($275) for the 8+256GB unit. Early sales for the P1 have already started, while limited sales for the P1 Pro start on April 22. Open sales for both these phones will commence on April 30 via Flipkart and Realme.com.
