The OnePlus Pad was released around this time last year, marking the Chinese company’s first foray into Android tablets, and it came with pretty solid specs on paper. About a year later, the OnePlus Pad Go, a lower-priced version of the OnePlus Pad, is getting its global release.

Compared To More Powerful Sibling, The OnePlus Pad Go Takes Some And Gives Some

The OnePlus Pad Go is OnePlus’ second attempt at making an Android tablet, and just from looking at it, it’s a pretty solid attempt. In fact, excluding the price, there are some reasons why you might want to go for this new model instead.

The Design

The OnePlus Pad Go is a medium-sized tablet and it’s got a pretty nice design for its size. The front has slim bezels which are equal on every edge, with a selfie camera hidden in the top bezel.

The back of the device is mostly plain. The top-fifth section of the back panel has the camera centrally placed and goes for a dulled shiny finish. The rest of the back panel is matte. The OnePlus Pad Go comes in only one color, called Twin Mint.

The Screen

The OnePlus Pad Go has a pretty nice LCD display. It has an 11.35″ diagonal with a 2.4K (2408 x 1720) resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. AMOLED would have been nice, but even the actual OnePlus Pad doesn’t have that. The screen supports using a stylus, so that should help when using this tablet for productivity tasks.

The Hardware

Inside, the OnePlus Pad Go runs on a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, which is a bit of a step down from the Dimensity 9000 in the OnePlus Pad, but hardly unexpected. You have the option for 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, each with 8GB of RAM. However, you do get a microSD slot, which the previous model didn’t have.

The battery is 8,000 mAh and can be charged with up to 33W when plugged in. It’s not as good as what the regular OnePlus Pad has, but it is certainly good enough considering it has a smaller screen, lower resolution, and weaker chip.

The Connectivity

This tablet comes with Bluetooth 5.2, a USB Type-C 2.0 port, Wi-Fi 5, and 4G LTE support. In fact, the latter is one of the major reasons why some people might want the new model more. The original OnePlus Pad does not have cellular connectivity, so you’ll be forced to use Wi-Fi consistently.

The Cameras

There’s not too much going on with the cameras. The front camera is an 8MP module and so is the rear one. Both of them support recording FHD at 30fps, so they should suffice for basic photography and video calls.

The Pricing

The OnePlus Pad Go is launching in several European markets and the Android tablet is going to cost €329 ($350), a notable step down from the OnePlus Pad which launched at $479.

The OnePlus Watch 2, launched earlier this year, is also going to be getting a little love, with a new Nordic Blue edition being launched in Europe. It has the same specifications as the other colorways of the OnePlus Watch 2, though a point can be made that it looks more dressy.
