The first quarter of 2024 is well behind us, and we’re already about halfway through the second quarter of the year as things stand. Of course, being this far into the year means that there’s more than enough time for the sales figures for Q1 to have been compiled and they have been.

Perhaps quite unsurprisingly, the best-selling Android phone of the first quarter of the year is Samsung’s high-powered Galaxy S24 Ultra. Despite costing quite a lot, it seems that there isn’t much that can be done to beat the Korean company’s magic.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Sold Better Than Any Other Android Device In Q1 2024

The sales figures for smartphone sales in the first quarter of this year are in, thanks to some work done by Counterpoint Research. We now know the top ten best-selling smartphones of Q1, and taking the top spot among Android smartphones is none other than the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

To be honest, this is simultaneously surprising and not surprising. Sure, the best-known Samsung smartphone that was released in Q1 would probably be agreed to be the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, at the same time, it is a $1,300 phone, and that’s not affordable by any measure. So, getting so many people to buy a phone as expensive as that is a pretty sizable achievement.

The S24 Ultra sales accounted for 1.9% of all smartphones sold in the world. That might not sound like much, but when you consider how many phones Samsung releases in a year and then extend that to how many smartphones are released in a year, you’ll realize how impressive it is.

The Galaxy S24 Series Is Doing Well In Terms Of Sales

In the top ten, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra sits in the fifth position overall, making it the highest Android device on the list. There are four other Android phones in the ranking, with the Samsung Galaxy S24 appearing in the ninth spot. That’s two devices from the S24 series, which is impressive.

That’s a big boost over this time last year when the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra had to make do with the sixth spot (1.3%), losing the top Android spot to the budget Samsung Galaxy A13. There was also no other S series phone from the year in the top 10. Just from that, you can tell that the S24 family is getting a much better reception.

If the top Android phone is only in the fifth spot, then who is taking the first four? Unsurprisingly, it is none other than Apple, with three iPhone 15 devices and the iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 Pro Max takes the top spot (showing that price is never really a barrier to good sales), followed by the iPhone 15, then the iPhone 15 Pro, and finally, the iPhone 14 from last year. There’s a notable absence of the iPhone 15 Plus in the top ten, which I’m sure Apple will learn from.
