Samsung Romania is running a promotion that will give away 10 Galaxy Z Flip5 phones to folks who pre-register between July 26 and August 2. Naturally, they posted a PDF with the terms and conditions for this promo, which happens to include the price of the items being given out. Oops.

According to that document, the Z Flip5 256GB is priced at RON 6,599, which converts to €1,335. For comparison, a Z Flip4 256GB was RON 5,700 at launch last year (so the new model is 16% more).

There have been a couple of leaks before – one from Greece, which priced the 128GB model at a similar €1,300, and one from France, which said that the 256GB model will be €1,200 (a minor increase over the Z Flip4 256GB last year at €1,170).

Note that different EU countries have different VAT: 19% in Romania, 24% in Greece and 20% in France. Even so, there is quite a discrepancy in those prices – the pre-VAT price according to the Romanian leak is €1,120, compared to €1,000 based on the one from France (both of these are for the 256GB unit). The Greek leak indicates a pre-VAT price for the smaller 128GB capacity of €1,050.

A €70 difference (before VAT) between the 128GB and 256GB models sounds reasonable, but this also makes the French price for the 256GB model suspiciously low.

We’ll hold off judgment for now before we see more leaks from local retailers. The official reveal is set for July 26. By the way, the French leak also detailed a bigger price hike for the Galaxy Z Fold5 ( €100-120), but there’s no word on that from Romania or Greece yet.
