The ASUS ROG Ally X is on the horizon and if you want to be among the first to get your hands on one, then you’ll want to pre-order the handheld. The good news is that you can pre-order it right now as it’s currently up over at Best Buy.

There’s no special deal here so it’ll cost $800 which is the full retail price. However, there’s no telling what stock is going to be like for this device once it actually launches. We’re always of the belief that it’s safe to assume stock could easily be depleted quickly with devices like this one. At least for the first few weeks. So if you’re interested in obtaining it early on, we’d recommend pre-ordering it now. Or as soon as possible.

The ROG Ally X is not vastly different from the original ROG Ally handheld on the outside. Even on the inside, it’s mostly the same hardware. ASUS has updated it though with lots of little upgrades and improvements though. Those improvements make this update to the OG model a worthy one. For starters, the Ally X comes with a standard 1TB SSD instead of 512GB. So you won’t have to start using a micro SD card for extra game storage as early as you would normally. Speaking of the micro SD card, ASUS has also updated the micro SD card slot.

On the older model, there was an issue that could surface with the card slot where the Ally would stop recognizing the card. This was caused by too much heat generation around the card slot. ASUS has fixed that issue with the ROG Ally X. The new unit also now has 24GB of RAM. Plus, a slightly more ergonomic shape so it’s more comfortable to hold.
